English Language Teacher at Xi'an Aston
Located in Central China, Xi'an is the capital of Shaanxi province and one of the most historically significant cities in China. A previous capital of China itself, Xi'an is a culturally rich city that is a bridge between the East and West of the country. The city itself is unique in that the center is surrounded by an ancient and breathtakingly beautiful city wall. There is also the bell and drums towers, the Great Goose Pagoda and lets not forget the infamous muslim quarter where you can try all manner of delicious and exotic snacks.
Aside from it's history, Xi'an is renound for having great transport, a lively nightlife, traditional arcitecture, amazing food and a large community of expats; something for everyone.
We currently have 7 Aston schools in Xi'an and the surrounding area, making Xi'an one of our hub cities. With more than 20 foreign teachers working at our schools, it's very easy to meet new people.
With over 20 years' experience bringing teachers to China, we at Aston understand that it is a big decision to move to a foreign country, which is why we support you every step of the way. From our friendly and knowledgeable foreign recruiters, to expert help throughout the visa process, then to being warmly welcomed at your arrival in the airport, you will never be left to fend for yourself.
Each year we hire a mix of experienced and inexperienced teachers. So if you are a recent graduate or do not have any teaching experience, do not worry. We can teach you what you need to know. All we ask for is that you have a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in teaching.
We want you to feel comfortable with making the move to China, so we are happy to put you in contact with some of our current teachers if you wish to hear of their experiences.
WHAT WE OFFER OUR TEACHERS
Low hours and various contract lengths:
One thing we don't want (and I'm sure you don't) is for our teachers to come to China, only to have to work 40 hours a week and not get to fully enjoy the experience of being in China. This is why we offer 23 hour a week contract, which includes 3 days off. Giving you plenty of time to explore the city you are in, study Mandarin or do some travelling. Of course, if you wish to work more hours we also have the option of a 28 hour contract. Don't want to commit to a full year? No problem, come and try 6 months first.
While rent in China is not terribly expensive compared to western standards, the initial costs involved can be a hit to your wallet. With rent paid generally every 3 months, you are looking at having to pay 6000-9000 RMB in set up costs. Add to that the hassle of having to stay in hotels and search for an apartment, it is an unnecessary stress.
We prefer that you have a place to call home as soon as you land in China. So for that reason all our schools offer free accommodation, fully furnished with everything you need. Zero set up costs.
Training and professional development:
We offer all new teachers our 28-hour TCERT training when they arrive in China. Our experienced teacher trainers will be able to fully prepare you to teach your first class through both practical and theoretical training. We have designed our own curriculum and books in house, so lesson planning is a breeze and takes minimal time.
Our goal is to provide you with a supportive environment and the guidance and training to allow you to continually develop your teaching skills.
