At Yulin Aston we have a team of young, energetic staff and we are looking for motivated, professional, and open-minded people who want to make a difference. Yulin Aston focuses on keeping their teachers happy and with 4 consecutive days off per week, a great location and a supportive team. The team at Yulin Aston is friendly, welcoming and there to help with whatever our foreign teachers may need as they settle down to life in China.
Aston has been in Yulin since Sep. 2006. Now we have approximately 500 students and that number is constantly growing. We currently have 2 foreign teachers working here who loves the city and the school.
Our school has a modern, elegant design and is very tech forward. With over 7 classrooms, it is a really great place to work. You will find bright colors, high ceilings, fully equipped classrooms, a computer room and a teacher’s office which is fully equipped with teaching aids, games and toys. Every classroom is also kitted out with interactive whiteboards, multi-media resources and enough space for teachers to perform games and activities with the students.

Throughout the year Aston holds various parties at our schools. This is an opportunity to have more fun with the children, with less of a focus on teaching English. We will often have fancy dress, play games, sing songs, give out gifts and have competitions. All to give the children an experience of Western culture and the festivals we most commonly celebrate. We encourage our foreign teachers to share their culture with the students and devise new and interesting ways to do so.
Every year we hold a Christmas and Halloween party, but we often hold one-off events such as Mother’s day party, Thanksgiving Day party, etc. We would also love to learn about new traditions and festivals, so if you have any other ideas you think the students would enjoy then we would love to work with you on them!
Here are some pictures from our recent activities and events.
The apartments are spacious, clean and new - and located a mere 10-minute walk from the school. All necessities are provided including internet, equipped kitchen western toilets.
What to do here in Yulin?
The school is located in the South of Yulin. If you like the outdoors, there is a beautiful nature park located near the school. There are also restaurants, supermarkets, fast-food stores etc. located within walking distance of the school. Yulin train station, bus station and airport are all served by public transport and a short trip from both school and the apartment.

The taxis start off at 6RMB and are readily available around the clock. Though after 10pm the initial far increases slightly.
The public bus system is a good method of travelling in and around Yulin. Payment is usually 1 RMB, so it’s definitely the cheapest option. Drivers and ticket sellers usually don't speak English, so make sure you know when to get off the bus before you get on it. Buses are often crowded, pushing and shoving is to be expected. Passengers enter at the front of the bus, exit at the back. Google Maps and its Chinese counterpart, Baidu Maps, now give directions from place to place using the bus system.
Where else can I go and see??
Beijing – 1.5 hours away by plane
Beijing is based in the north of China and is the capital of the country. Beijing is considered a must see when living in China.
Built in 1420, the Temple of Heaven was the most important of Beijing's imperial temples. It was where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties (from 1420 to 1900) worshiped the god of heaven and prayed for good harvests. It has been described as "a masterpiece of architecture and landscape design"
Shanghai – 4.5 hours away by plane
There are very few cities in the world that can compete with Shanghai. Here you can find the perfect blend of cultures; the modern and the traditional, the western and the oriental. New skyscrapers and old Shikumen together draw the skyline of the city. Western customs and Chinese traditions blend together seamlessly, making it a must see for anyone visiting or living in China. However, like Beijing, the cost of living, food, drink and travel is much higher here than the rest of China and often competes with some of the most expensive cities in the world.
